The Place To Be Seen!

Hi everyone!

=TwinEnigma here!

We have some super cool stuff planned now that we've converted to groups, so keep an eyeball out!

Most importantly, have fun!

Please Read: Tips to be Seen

Thu Aug 7, 2008, 7:36 PM by =TwinEnigma:iconTwinEnigma:
Hi, everyone

First of all, we want to thank you for participating in our last poll.

By looking at the poll, honestly, we’re kind of disappointed, since there are the majority of you that still have not been seen. Congratulations for the 34 people (currently) who are now more seen than they used to be, and for the 110 other people who think that they get more seen.

Now, let’s talk to those of you who feel unseen.
We are here to help you be seen, but as much as we want to help you, we are only a club. We will do what we can do, but the rest is still up to you. That means, you individually have to be active. Do not wait for other people to look for you. Look for other people first and they will notice you.

Here are some tips that we hope can help you to be seen:

1. Do check our journals

We’ve realized that most of you seem to care only for the MAIN gallery deviations.
Remember! This club does not only contain the MAIN gallery. We also have a THUMB gallery, as well as a lot of important updates on the journals that we update everyday (such as Art Contests and Member Advertisements).
On Member Advertisements, most of them are looking for friends, critics, and comments. This is one good opportunity to find friends.

Of course, we do not blame you if you care for the MAIN gallery at most, but we get a lot of questions, asking “When I can submit my deviation?” or even send a deviation without noticing that it is not their turn to submit.

That means that a lot of you do not even read our journal. Therefore, we want to ask and encourage you to spend a little time to open and read our journals. They contain a lot of information you might want to see and read.

2. Do not depend on the MAIN gallery

From most of the comments, we’ve realized that most of you are not seen because you haven’t submitted anything yet to the MAIN gallery.

If we can give you a tip, it’s good if you do not depend on the MAIN gallery to be seen. Remember! You only get ONE chance out of approx. 3 months dateline. If you only hope for the MAIN gallery, then you will never be seen, except for that one moment when your deviation is submitted. Plus, there’s always a chance that your deviation is not a type other members are looking for. For example, you’re a photography artist, while other member is a writer. It’s most likely that he/she will not visit your page.

3. THUMB gallery = MAIN gallery

We want to inform you that THUMB gallery is NOT a bit less important than the MAIN gallery. We consider both galleries as equal, so we really appreciate if you also visit THUMB gallery as often as you do to the MAIN gallery.

4. Do participate in our activities

It seems that not most people realize that we have a FEATURE section on our front journal. Please suggest your friends or random people to be featured in our journal. This could also be the opportunity to be seen, since the feature is open for everyone ;)

The space is limited though, so we’ll only feature about 10 deviations each month.

5. Daily Deviation, News Articles, and Forum

I hope you realize that you’ve got the opportunity to feature or BE featured, not only from or by this club, but by other sources as well, such as Daily Deviation, News Articles, and Forum.

For those of you who didn’t know yet, you can suggest random people or your friend to become a daily deviant.

There are also a bunch of news articles about features. Many generous people will offer themselves to feature you!
Sometimes, they might ask you to do something for them, but most likely, they will just feature you without asking you anything. Remember though, with this system, the faster you are, the more chance you will get ;)

Also, maybe some of you (especially for the new ones) didn’t know that we have a FORUM. Do check the forum once in a while. Many great artists deserve more attention.

One example of forum that we have: [link] by ~lollige He’s an awesome artist, be sure to check him out :)

Another example would be the more general one, where everyone can post their works: [link]

Use all these opportunities to be seen!

6. Guide to Gaining Recognition

Last but not least, check our journal [link] for more tips to be seen.

We hope that this will help you to be more seen.
Good luck, everyone!

All of these are good tips! I suggest highly that people use them. Also, as someone who HAS gotten at least a little recognition from here even without having submitted to the main gallery yet, here's a hint that will help. DA is a community and as such, we should treat it as one. Just as YOU want to be seen, so do others. Try stopping in on other people. Check those member ads or enter some contests here. The more active you are with others by submitting work for contests and touching base on THEIR pages, the more you will find they will be moved and happy and will visit you too. I've had a blast, discovered a LOT of new talent and even made a few friends in a very short time all by just clicking on the thumbnails in the AD section that looked interesting to me.

Just remember that the more you give, the more you get. You can't sit back and just wait, hoping and expecting others to come rushing to you. You have to be seen and to get out there. :)

I already tried submitting to the THUMB gallery and was told the only time you can submit to the THUMB gallery is at the same time you can submit to the MAIN gallery. Which, you just said, is once every 3 months.

I guess I will have to find a way to make advertising work for me instead...like maybe for my original art!

Thank you very much for this journal.
Of course, being active is obviously the best tip for being noticed; I guess I was just too idle to do it. From now on, I will do my best to be active and comment more on members' submissions. Also, I am currently working on a new piece, which I will probably want to post here.

I seriously need to stop being so lazy. ^^;

You could stand to mention, as well, that there is a chatroom where people can share their art...
No one seems to go into it any more.

Well, it could be worse. And it could be better. And IT COULD BE PIZZA!

Great journal, I think it will be useful for many deviants :)

That is correct - you have to pick only one gallery to submit that particular turn's submission to.

You can do the other gallery the next turn, but we structured it this way so watchers don't get repeats of the same image in their inbox.
