UnseenArtists Rules and Policies

:bulletred: How to Join UnseenArtists :bulletred:

:bulletblue: Anyone can join! Even if you have many pageviews and would be considered "popular" on DA. No one is excluded for any reason (unless we find out you're an art thief! So beware).

:bulletblue: There are two ways to join UnseenArtists: 1. Send me a note entitled "Join" or 2. Go to the UnseenArtists Chatroom and ask one of the helpers, *TwinEnigma, ~BeyondEarth or myself, *UnseenArtists to make you a member. If you join through the chatroom you still must send a join note to me, otherwise I cannot add you to the memberlist!

:bulletblue: When joining there are three things you must do:
    1. You have to devwatch UnseenArtists

    2. Add the UnseenArtists's icon to your front journal (asap)

    3. Send UnseenArtists a note entitled Join.

:bulletblue: Don't know how to send a "Join" note? Click here: Send Note

:bulletblue: You can devwatch UnseenArtists by clicking here: Devwatch UnseenArtists

:bulletblue: To add the UnseenArtists icon, simply type the following into your journal:

:gallery: Art and Literature Submission Policy :gallery:

Please read ALL of the rules here. Otherwise we will not post your work!

:bulletblue: This is a system which will combine a tweaked version of the traditional submitting system with a journal thumb system! With this new system we hope that the UnA staff will no longer be bogged down with undoable amounts of work, and members will no longer be flooded with art to the point where they stop looking at it. Art is meant to be seen!

:new: Please READ this! :pointr: FAQ and Facts
The submission information below is under revision because it is confusing to members and staff. This link leades to our club FAQ, which has the most succinct and accurate version of our submission policy. DO NOT USE the submission policy below for the time being. Use the policy as described in our FAQ.

See Important Updates for more information. You may also contact ~Bri-Rock or *TwinEnigma for more information on the UnA submission system and its status.

:bulletblue: UnA accepts all types of art and writing!

:bulletblue: Send a note to UnseenArtists linking us to the deviation you would like posted.

:bulletblue: Notes to must be entitled "Submit" so we can discern them from "Join" notes.

:bulletblue: You MUST inform us if the submission is a "thumb" OR "gallery" submission!

:bulletblue: Don't know how to send a "Submit" note? Click Here: Send Note

OPTION A

:bulletblue: All members, old and new, have the option of submitting 1 deviation to the UnseenArtists gallery ONLY on announced submission dates which will go by alphabetical order. We will post up notifications for when we'll be accepting art a week in advance so all applicable members have time to choose their deviation. Please do not send us more than one deviation because we will only post one!

:bulletblue: If your name falls into the announced # or letter category, you will have 3 days to send us a "submit" note with your best deviation, this includes the announced date and two days after. If you fail to send in a submission within this 3 day time limit then you will have to wait until we get around to that # or letter again.

:bulletblue: On the Important Updates page *TwinEnigma or I, *Otaku1811, will announce submission dates.

Example: "All members with names starting with the letter A can send in ONE deviation on (a given date, U.S. time). Please be aware you have 3 days to send a link to your work, after that we will not be accepting anymore submissions for (# or letter) until we've cycled through all the #'s and letters again."

:bulletblue: Announcements will be random. If this system goes well we may make them monthly or bi-monthly. It all depends on whether or not we can submit all the art we receive within a month without flooding your inboxes. Our aim will be to submit a minimum of 5 deviations a day.

OPTION B

:bulletblue: All members, old and new, have the option of submitting 1 deviation using the same rules as above, however, these submissions will be posted for a certain period of time in a journal as thumbs and not submitted to the main gallery. All thumbs will be sorted by categories for easy viewing.

:bulletblue: Everytime a new submission date is announced, the old thumbs will be removed and new thumbs will be added, allowing a constant flow of new art and preventing the journal from getting so cluttered with thumbs that it won't load.

:bulletblue: For either method you choose, please do not send us the same deviation more than once! It is up to you to keep track of what deviations you send to the club!

:bulletblue: In case art submissions get backed up again, even with the new options you all have, you may have to wait a while before your work is posted. So in the meantime please use the #Unseenartists chatroom and share thumbs of your work there.

:bulletblue: DON'T even attempt submitting artwork that is stolen. We do not tolerate art thieves and if we find out you are one we will quickly report you to DA.

:bulletred: How to Become an Affiliate :bulletred:

To get your club icon under the list of Affiliates, you must add UnseenArtist's icon to your front journal page and keep it there at all times. Once you put us under your affiliates, please send a note to *UnseenArtists entitled "Affiliate." I will then add your icon to UnA.

:bulletred: Rules for #UnseenArtists Chat Room :bulletred:

:bulletblue: This is the respect policy! Treat others as you want to be treated!
    1. Try to avoid excessive profanity.

    2. Do not use racist slurs, derogatory remarks regarding people's religions and beliefs, insults towards gender or sexual preferences, and nasty remarks in general aimed to hurt others.

    3. If you are making other members in the chat uncomfortable and are told to stop, then stop!

    4. Do not make rude remarks towards members' artwork. Critiques on art must be constructive, not hurtful.

    5. Don't assume everyone shares the same interest as you, don't insult anyone's interests if you dislike them, and don't try to push your beliefs onto anyone.

    6. Talk about politics/religion/economic or social issues is forbidden in the chatroom unless it relates to art or DA in some way. Such topics almost always cause heated debates, leading to arguments. So when in doubt, don't!

    7. Fighting is absolutely prohibited. Be aware that debates can lead to arguments. If you persist with a topic that starts arguments in the chat you can be warned and kicked out. Freedom of speech is great, only if it keeps the peace!
Breaking these rules and disrupting the peace of UnseenArtists chat will result in a kick or ban depending on the severity of your actions.

:bulletblue: Arguing about the rules because you dislike them is pointless and will get you kicked by myself, TwinEnigma, BeyondEarth, or the other helpers. Insulting or flaming the helpers when they do their jobs by enforcing the rules likewise will not be tolerated and you will be kicked or banned as a result. We also DO NOT tolerate people who decide to publicly flame the club or club staff in their journals; people who do so will be reported to DA.

:bulletblue: If you were kicked or banned from the UnseenArtists chatroom by myself or one of the helpers and are confused about why that happened, you were most likely kicked or banned because you broke one or more of UnA's rules! So please don't send me angry notes demanding an explanation, you know what you did and so do the helpers.

:bulletblue: Do not beg the UnseenArtists staff to become a helper! If you do, you definitely will not be considered for the job. If you're interested in helping out send a note to me, TwinEnigma, or BeyondEarth.

:bulletblue: Don't spam, meaning no shouting (using all caps), or flooding the room with repetitive text, emoticons, links, or images. This is grounds for being exiled.

:bulletblue: Please be considerate and let people in the chatroom know you wish to post thumbs to avoid disrupting anyone's conversations. You may post a maximum of 10 thumbnails per line in the chat with no time constraints between posting, however you may not flood the room with multiple thumbs of the same piece of artwork or post art over and over filling the entire chat window. That would be considered SPAM!

:bulletblue: To post thumbnails in the chat you have to open a deviation from your gallery. With DA v5 the thumb number and code is all ready in the lower right corner for you to copy and paste directly into the chatroom. It should look like this: :thumb12345678:

:bulletblue: You can use the UnseenArtists chat to promote yourself and your artwork, but not your own chatroom or club since that would draw people out of this chat and into another. If you wish to advertise your club or chat, send me a note and I will post it on the member advertisements page.

:bulletblue: No posting of pornography, distasteful suicidal artwork, or anything prohibited by DA. This means you cannot post mature pictures or send links to sites that may contain harmful material for younger members. However, you can send deviations that are labeled mature, such as artistic nude. Any illegal file sharing or program downloads are strictly prohibited. Remember, if it's not allowed on DA, it's not allowed here!

:bulletblue: If you break these rules you face the warn/kick/ban penalties which go as follows:
    1. Minor offenses: You will be warned, then kicked if you continue. If you repeat the offense, you will be warned and kicked again. The third time, you will be warned and then banned.
    2. Mid-range offenses: You will be warned and then kicked if you continue. If you repeat the offense, you will get banned.
    3. Serious offenses: You will be either warned and then banned if you continue or you will be banned immediately and sent a note explaining exactly what rules you broke.
    4. Retroactive Bans: These happens after a user who broke the chatroom rules has left the room. We require evidence of wrongdoing to perform one of these bans on an offender, such as a text log of what was said.
The severity of the offense is based on what the offender did.

It is essentially a 3-Strike system. You have three chances before you end up banned and each time we have to warn you and kick you, you move up in Strikes. Be aware that if you break the rules when no helper is in the room, members and guests are encouraged to log your actions and report them to *TwinEnigma. The log will be evaluated and if the offense was bad enough, you run the risk of earning a second strike or a retroactive ban. You will NOT be able to get away with causing trouble when we are not in the room.

:bulletred: How to become a candidate for being a helper: :bulletred:
If you are interested in helping out in the UnseenArtists chatroom, please read over these guidelines.

:bulletblue: First of all, do not beg the UnseenArtists staff to become a helper. All good UnA members are willing to help their fellow or soon-to-be members naturally. Following these requirements will only make it more likely for you to be chosen, it will not guarantee it. Helpers are picked out of many possible candidates that stand out from the rest and are deemed worthwhile by the UnA staff. If you're interested in being a helper, send a note to *TwinEnigma and she'll send you a application form via note. You are not guaranteed to get a reply back with a yes or no answer unless we're positive. What will happen is your application will be kept on record for future reference unless we tell you otherwise. You will be observed by the current helpers until you are chosen to become one or are rejected.

:bulletblue: Be an active member of the UnseenArtists chatroom, visiting it more than twice a week.

:bulletblue: Spark conversations and welcome people who come into the chat.

:bulletblue: Observe and learn from the senior helpers, they know what they are doing and they can answer any questions you may have about what they do.

:bulletblue: If the helpers are idle or away, take it upon yourself to help new members join UnseenArtists. Ask them if they wish to join, and if they say yes, tell them to devwatch UnseenArtists, explain to them how to add the icon, and remind them to send a join note to the club. Don't try being a helper when the helpers are active. Let them do their jobs.

:bulletred: Rules and Requirements for Chat Room Helpers :bulletred:
This set of rules is here to guide all of UnA's chat room helpers in their endeavors. Please refer here when in doubt about any situation or requirements for dealing with unruly chatters.

:bulletblue: The title "Helpers" is a position of authority within our club. The helpers are the staff members that directly manage and help in UnseenArtists's chat room. They are the ones who deal with and solve any problems or conflicts between members in the chat. They are also the ones who greet guests and members as they enter and help guests to join our club. Helpers basically keep the peace and order and help out anyone in need. You should not fear our staff because they are there for your service and guidance. However, they are authority and you must always listen and obey their enforcement of the rules.

:bulletblue: We are looking for members that can actually devote a lot of time to this club and its chat room. People who are serious about helping and managing a club and its members. We're looking for people who can stay faithful and listen to their superiors and co-workers and work well with them. Managing a chat is a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility is placed on these helpers. If you don't feel you can meet these requirements, then you may not be right for this job.

:bulletred: Making New Members :bulletred:

:bulletblue: When you're available and active in the chatroom, always greet members and guests when they enter the room.

:bulletblue: For guests, try to make them feel at home in the chat; make it a place they would want to come back to. Start conversations with them, get a feel for their personalities, and when you feel the time is right, ask them if they would like to become members of UnseenArtists.

:bulletblue: Try not to wait too long before you ask guests if they'd like to be members. Many guests leave before they are asked, so keep a 10-15 minute time limit from when you begin talking to them to when you ask them to join.

:bulletblue: If a guest enters the room and you feel that they would cause trouble, don't ask them to join UnseenArtists. Use your judgment carefully because there are instances when members were made and later banned for misconduct.

:bulletblue: If a guest asks to become a member right away then add them; people that ask usually have a good sense of what UnseenArtists is about.

:bulletblue: Always tell new members to devwatch UnseenArtists, add the icon, and to send a join note. If they don't know how to do those tasks, help them learn how or direct them to this page and tell them to read the instructions.

:bulletblue: To physically add a new member in the chatroom you should type: /promote username UnseenArtists

:bulletred: Authoritative Powers :bulletred:

:bulletblue: As a helper you have certain powers. You can add members, demote members to guests, kick people, and ban people from the chatroom. You are given these powers to make reasonable decisions. The rules above and additional guidelines given to you are just the tip of the ice berg. You have to be able to use good judgment to not only enforce all the rules but effectively deal with all other situations that come up. You're here to enforce the peace, but do not abuse that power.

:bulletblue: There are certain commands you can type do each of these tasks:

/promote username UnseenArtists

This command moves a Guest directly into the UnseenArtists level. This can also be used with demote. (example: you can also do /demote username Guest too).

/kick username (reason for being kicked)

This command removes a user from the chatroom. This is temporary, the user can return at any time. Please be sure to add a reason to let the person know why they were kicked.

/ban username

This removes the person from the chatroom into the Exiled status. In most cases, the people who get banned will stay banned permanently unless they can somehow make up for their misconduct or send a note of sincere apology to whomever they wronged. In such a case, you can give the banned person a second chance by typing /unban username.

:bulletblue: If you have any other questions regarding chat commands, please go here: Help

:bulletred: When To Kick, When To Ban :bulletred:
If any of UnseenArtists's rules are broken in the chatroom, you are required to take appropriate action. Whether or not to kick or ban depends on the severity of the action. If something minor occurs, you are to give warning to the person responsible and let them know what they are in violation of. Never kick or ban without trying to work out problems first.

:bulletblue: As a helper, you must resolve every situation in the best possible manner. There must be peace. Do not argue with the offender. You must try to calm them down and stop the issue. Do not allow personal feelings and emotions to get in the way of dealing with them or any member. The situation must be delt with professionalism and calmness. If the offender asks what they did wrong, you should tell them in a peaceful way, but do not argue about it. You should state their offense from your view, that you believe what they said or did was offensive or breaking the rules. Avoid angering the offender more than neccessary.

:bulletblue: You will automatically kick any excessive flooders/spammers right away and may even ban them. Posters of pornography/illegal material will automatically be kicked and banned, but remember DA deviations of mature content are allowed.

:bulletblue: If there are people who pop into the room, post links, thumbs, icons, or anything else and then leave, ban them only if it occurs frequently. This is a violation of the no spam rule and it disrupts the piece of the chat, especially if these people aren't interested in UnseenArtists.

:bulletblue: If any guests or members start a fight, be it over difference of opinion or otherwise, try talking to them and calming everyone down. If the person does not want to cooperate, warn them. If they persist, kick them. If they return and wish to do more harm, ban them.

:bulletblue: If anyone makes insults or uses rude remarks in the chat to hurt others, automatically warn them and if they do not stop, kick them. You should also keep people in check at all times. If people are being bothersome, bragging, critizing members, etc they need to be warned and spoken to. All of this is in violation of the respect policy.

:bulletblue: As a helper you have the right to ban anyone who has amassed a record of bad behavior in the chat over a long period of time. Often these people don't do anything bad enough to be banned after the first few incidents, but they cause dislike between you and them and the other members.

:bulletblue: If other helpers are in violation of any rules, report to me or *TwinEnigma directly and we will handle the situation. If the violations of the helper add up enough, that person will be demoted back to a member rank and lose their helper privileges. If that person persists in their ways they can be exiled. The same applies if you have any complaints about any of the helpers.

:bulletblue: If something happens in the chat and you absolutely have no idea what to do, contact me and I will handle it. If I am not around then you should use your best judgment. There will be times when it's best to do nothing if it requires the admin's involvement.

:bulletred: Other :bulletred:

:bulletblue: Helpers that are unaware of the present situation with members to be added should ask the other staff if its being taken care of yet or not before butting in and taking over! This can prevent many conflicts. You do your job and let the other helpers do theirs. If none of the staff reply in a short period of time about the "situation," then it's ok for the you to continue and add people.

If you do not understand any of these rules then please consult *TwinEnigma, or I, we'll be more than happy to explain.

:bulletred: How to Submit Art: :bulletred:
These are the strict guidelines all of UnA's Art Submitters have to follow to ensure all member's work gets credit where it is due.

:bulletgreen: Monday-Friday 7-9PM EST is off limits to everyone except me and *TwinEnigma! These are admin hours so we can come in and take care of general maintanance of the site. The weekends are also off limits, except for me, *TwinEnigma, and *mylovestory. So all submission helpers must stick to their schedules or log on when no one else is on the account to submit art.

:bulletblue: The new rules follow that we take submissions based on Aplhabetical Order, so now you will know what category of members work we are taking at each submission date, and anyone else who sends in a submission shall have a message sent to them and you can delete their note. Here is the message you should use:

:star: All submitters who do not fit into this month's alphabetical category: I am sorry to dissapoint a large majority of you, but it seems many people have been confused about the new Art Submission Policy. The submission system is now based on alphabetical order and this submission date (put date here) ONLY applies to members whose names start with (list the letter or numbers). So for everyone else, if your name does not start with (letter or numbers), or you submitted way too soon (I understand many of you are from different time zones so if I get the submission a day early it's no problem) then you will have to wait until we get to the letter/number your name does start with. The next submission date is only for people whose names begin with (letter or numbers). This new system is meant to help the staff of this club be able to submit art at a more constant rate, yet not get piled on with so much art that people wait years to get their work submitted. This new method will also allow us to submit a reasonable amount of devs each day, meaning we won't be flooding people's inboxes. So again I apologize for anyone who misunderstood the rules, but rules are rules, so I will be deleting all submissions that do not apply to this particular submission date. Please read the UnseenArtists Rules and Policies page under the "Art and Literature Submission Policy" section.

:bulletblue: For the description area of each deviation, make sure to copy and paste the user's name so it is accurate and a link to their deviation. Also disable comments to ensure people comment and fav on the original artwork. Make sure you get the info on what the piece is, and what categories it goes under. For keywords you can put anything that you feel pertains to the deviation or just "..." I am fine with anything since you have to put something. I usually put general info, like if it is anime, I just put "anime."

Template:

UnseenArtists submission by :dev(paste name here): You may comment/favorite on the original piece here: (post link to deviation here)

:bulletblue: After the art is submitted reply to the note saying:

Sorry for the long wait! (This part can go when/if you get to more recent submissions, anything more than a month old requires the apology) Your deviation has been submitted! You may submit again when a official submission date is announced. If you're unsure of the status of art submissions, please check the Important Updates page or the Art Submission Policy.

UnA Administrator,
*Otaku1811 (You can change it to your title, this is just an example of what I use)

:bulletblue: And that is pretty much it! You can submit as much work as you feel you can do, I prefer 5-10 minimum per session. Any more than 10 a day may seem excessive to members but you are allowed to submit as many as you like when we are seriously backed up in art submissions (over 100 submissions in the folder). Please submit no less than 20 a month. Good luck!

UnseenArtists was created by *Otaku1811 and Co-Founded by ~BeyondEarth

I like the max submission of 3 per day to UA. I see so many people submitting things in their own gallery (people that I watch mostly) that submit about 20-30 pictures at a time.. Takes out the fun in looking at their stuff when it's all like that.
